In 2012, Lubbock welcomed more than 5.55 million visitors to town! According to the report by D. K. Shifflet & Associates some of those visitors came for work, but the majority came to enjoy Lubbock’s attractions, unique shops and robust dining options. So how do visitors to Lubbock impact you as a Lubbockite? Tourism to the “Hub City” most directly impacts your pocketbook. As a result of travel to Lubbock, more than $486 was saved on property taxes per household in 2012. Locally, the tourism industry employs 7,290 people resulting in $214 million in annual earnings.
The Visit Lubbock Team is proud to join in the celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week, recognized annually the first week of May. Since 1984, destination marketing organizations across the nation have promoted the week through a variety of events and activities all meant to champion the power of travel.
